Job Summary: Installs, configures, troubleshoots, and maintains computer networks, hardware and software while fostering an environment of continuous quality, process and system improvement.  Works under direct supervision of a pharmacist.  Follows standard procedures to accomplish assigned tasks.  May assist in orienting and training employees.


Job Duties:

  • Becomes the subject matter expert on proprietary and shelf system software
  • Manipulates software systems to maximize system and user productivity
  • Integrates hardware and software on multiple company and vendor supplied platforms
  • Performs network troubleshooting to diagnose and correct problems
  • Installs, supports, maintains and configures network printers and PC workstations
  • Works with associate employees that support hardware, software and networks to maintain systems
  • Upgrades hardware and software components as required
  • Provides technical support with/without associated employees
  • Develops technical knowledge of proprietary and shelf software systems and becomes software subject matter expert
  • Works with associated vendors to operate, maintain and support proprietary and shelf system software systems
  • Downloads PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) ladder logic programs, and utilizes diagnostic tools for troubleshooting
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the operations of a Pharmacy in terms of sequence of events and quality control
  • Individual will be the primary interface with McKesson HVS Customer Support and will coordinate all changes, fixes, and enhancements to the automated pharmacy system
  • Assist in resolution of customer service issues
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all patient information
  • Responsible for completing all mandatory and regulatory training programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Assist in training of Shift Supervisors


Educational Requirements:

  • Minimum: High School Diploma (or currently enrolled) or GED
  • Preferred: AS Degree or Higher



  • Preferred: Previous 2-4 years’ experience within a related field and position
